Promo Packs

 

A promo pack is additional content that you receive when you buy a album. In a promo pack you usually get posters, clothing, signed pictures, a behind-the-scenes DVD and live performance songs.

When an artist/band is promoting a new song or album they use synergy with their products to help promote them. They usually do this by making the music promo and then they link all of the products to it by following the similar style. Their products and music promo are consistent because the audience can make the link between them. For example, if you see a CD with a cover that was advertised after the song then you realise the connection and it might persuade you to buy it. Similarly, if you see a concert photo in the same style then you will remember the music you heard and you will go and see it.

The pack costs £65 but it contains a lot more features and gifts than the album itself.

 

 

Their website also follows the theme of the album and promo pack which helps to promote the album even more.

 

 

This is an example of Coldplays 'Mylo Xyloto' promo pack that they released. In the pack you got the album cover and inside there is a picture of the band. The actual CD has swirls and follows the same colour scheme as the cover. Then there is a Glastonbury 2011 live CD included which gives the audience live performance content. The promo pack also includes a poster.
